If you are looking for a
SIAMESE
You have made a great choice.
The breed is intelligent, affectionate, very clean, and the beautiful blue eyes make them irresistible.
Now the only question is ---
"what type of Siamese are you looking for"?
The kind grandma had so many years ago,
or the more modern type you find in the show ring today?
Now for those of you that are still confused about the differences, the
"Traditional Siamese"
(or as some refer to as the apple headed Siamese)
have a more normal rounded head,
and are of a more sturdy, compact build.
This type dates as far back in history as 1350.
They are mentioned in a manuscript from Ayuthia,
then the capital of Siam.
Only the royal family was allowed to own this cat,
& they were carefully guarded in the royal palace's & temples.

The modern Siamese are more sleek, and are thinner
& longer in the body, legs, tail, ears, and face.
Both types have the same colour points and the beautiful
blue eyes.
The "modern" type Siamese were derived from the Traditional style that were originally brought from Siam,
now Thailand in 1884.

Our kittens are home raised and are very healthy.

We have many very happy customers,
some with as many as 6 of our babies in their family.
(Please read our Guest-Book)
Kittens come with a

"Science Diet"
first steps starter kit and a
TWO YEAR GUARANTEE!
There are kittens

We are committed to raising the

So that new generations of Siamese Lovers can also enjoy this very old & very special breed.

Traditional Siamese kittens have a "fuzzy" looking baby coat when small.
This changes as they grow.
The adult coat is short but thick, unlike the Modern Siamese coat which is smooth, short, & very tight or close fitted.
Traditional Siamese do carry the long coat gene & a kitten does have the potential for a longer coat when mature,
but a long coat Siamese is an extremely rare find!

Characteristics and Temperament

First off --forget all the bad things that you may have heard about Siamese.
Anyone who speaks negative of them simply never owned one!
The
TRADITIONAL SIAMESE
is an intelligent, people-oriented cat which enjoys human companionship.
Whether it be as a lap warmer or chasing a toy.
They are inquisitive and friendly, and like nothing better than to sit in the middle of something you are trying to do.
Many will talk to their people in an affectionate, conversational way.
With their dog like intelligence & devotion they are a great choice for any family looking for that perfect pet.
Traditional Siamese can be well-adapted to life in either a house or an apartment.
They are not in perpetual motion & they have a fairly balanced activity level,
they are just as happy to play with their toys as to curl up in your lap for a snooze.
They are wonderful family pets, and are very indulgent of small children.
They will tolerate liberties (not to be confused with poor treatment)
from them that they will not take from adults.
When they've had enough, they simply make themselves unavailable.
With their mellow & loving temperament they are very good companions for seniors as well.
Properly socialised they just love people, and most will go right up to strangers and demand to be petted.
They get along very well with dogs & other pets & both male & female are equally as loving.
Although the boys tend to be larger, more outgoing, & much more Traditional looking.
You will find that these cats are simply marvelous companions!

A wonderful Siamese Poem
Author unknown.
"A friend of mine is a Siamese cat.
A prince of a fellow, an aristocrat.
He's really quite a vocal chap, when he wants to eat or lie in my lap.
With intelligent eyes, he takes it all in,
then he pleads his case with a slight little grin.
He likes to talk of this and that, to voice his thoughts or just chit chat.
His love to me he now confers, with big blue eyes and gentle purrs.
Quite shy was he when first we met,
now he's my friend,
and I'm his pet."

SIAMESE TYPES
There are 3 different types of Siamese.
The original, old fashioned, apple head
"Traditional Siamese",
The wedge head or
"Modern Siamese",
& the
"Classic Siamese",
which looks like a blend of the other 2.
Classic style kittens do show up in Traditional Siamese litters.
Breeders further refined these kittens into the Modern wedge headed Siamese of today.

SIAMESE COLOUR

We have many people ask us about the colour of our cats & kittens.
Some want to know why some kittens are only coloured in the "points" & why the older cats are coloured in the body as well as the points.
Some want a kitten that is dark in the body
& others like a light body with only the points coloured.
Please don't expect a kitten to look like a cat.
Siamese start life as little white babies.
The colour comes in as they grow.
A very young cat is a smokey or creamy white with only the points showing colour.
As they grow, the colour will creep up from the base of the tail.
The change is very gradual, & because you see your kitten every day,
you may not realize he is getting darker.
Adult Siamese cats raised in a cold climate will have darker body colour than cats raised in a warm, tempered climate.
We had a couple come for a kitten who had owned a Siamese & did not want a kitten because it had no body colour.
She had brought pictures of her cat & of course she was dark in the body.
She said her cat was always that colour even as a kitten.
I asked her if she had a pic of the cat as a kitten, & she did.
Guess what ? Only the points had colour.
She was a little embarrassed, but had just forgot.
Some cats of course will have darker body colour than others.
As kittens you can not generally tell how light or dark the body will be.
If you like a light colour, a Red or Lilac may be to your liking,
if you like dark, a Chocolate or Seal might be nice.
Blue points are nice if you like something in between.
But no matter what the colour,
Our ROYAL KITTENS are the very BEST!

COLOUR POINT SHORTHAIRS
Now recognized as
COLOUR POINT SIAMESE

You may be wondering what the difference is between a Siamese & a Colour Point Shorthair (Siamese).
Originally Siamese cats came in 4 distinct colour points.
Seal point, being darkest, chocolate point, which is a dilute seal, blue point, which is a dilute chocolate & lilac which is a dilute blue.
These are the only colours a Siamese cat can be.
Through the years Siamese cats were bred to other breeds of cats
This out cross produced the other point colours you find in the cats today.
Red or Flame, Cream, Torti, Lynx & Torbie Point cats.
As well as other beautiful colours.
Now because these cats have the gene to produce colours that are not of the 4 original Siamese colours, they are called Colour Point Shorthairs.
Colour Point Shorthairs can have kittens in the 4 Siamese colours as well, & just by looking you can NOT tell the difference between a Traditional Colour Point Shorthair & a Traditional Siamese.
Some cat clubs accept all point colours as Siamese & they are registered as Siamese & not Colour Point Shorthairs.
But to keep the original Traditional Siamese bloodlines pure, other registeries such as the T.C.A. separate them into 2 distinct breeds.
Personally, they are all Siamese to me.
No matter what the colour, or what you call them, they are the best of cats.

P.S. - In 2004 the "TRADITIONAL CAT ASSOCIATION" started to recognize the Colour Point Shorthair as a Siamese.
They now have the distinction of being called
"Colour Point Siamese".
This is a great step forward for colour point breeders, owners, & the breed itself.
Thank-you for listening T.C.A.!!

SPRAYING
I get many questions concerning cats spraying.
Most believe that boy cats spray.
Now what is not known is girl cats do too.
They both use this behaviour to mark their territory.
If you have your kitten altered before they are sexually mature
spraying should not be a concern.
The reason the boys get the bad rap for spraying is
their urine has a stronger odour.
The girls urine does not have that strong a smell & will usually go unnoticed,
unless you are another cat of course.
So don't let the spraying thing influence your choice between a boy or girl.
Most choose depending on what they are familiar with.

As for VISITING the
"CATTERY"

(Only allowed when babies are ready to go to their forever homes.)
This is only a "cattery" by name,
as the cats are free to roam the house.
The cats that want to see you, you will see,
the cats that don't, you wont!
They can be anywhere & I am not hunting them down.
They don't like me hunting them down either.
They think its vet time & I value my arms, its about the only time they show their inherent Siamese side! lol
There pictures are ALL on this site.
The only way to keep them where you want them is to cage them, & that's not going to happen!
The only time the cage is used is to show & train kittens.
So don't be shocked to see your baby in the cage!
( Pen is 40 sq. feet & insures you a litter trained kitten.)
As I said, I hate hunting them down for visitors.
It would be my full time job!
Its not at all fair to my cats (or dogs) to be bothered
with a steady flow of people in & out
especially when they have babies.
Not to mention the possible viruses,
I want your new baby to be as healthy as possible!
& I also want my cats & dogs to stay that way as well.
SO
Due to the ever increasing number of VIRUSES
NO baby will be shown until shots are given!!(at new owners request)
The health of my pets as well as your new baby is most important here at Elliotthaus.
If you need to look, that's what pet shops are for.
If you HAVE to look, please look elsewhere.
If I lose a customer--OH WELL!!
You can't loose what you never had.
If in doubt please read our Guest-Book for lots of
